End of the Rewritten Journey

 Hey friends,

After more than a year of running, Club Penguin Rewritten has announced their closure on Sunday March 4, 2018 at 21:00 PST. You can check the time in PST at the Snow Forts on CPR. There will be a Waddle On Party hosted on the island which will be the final event of the game.

A huge thanks to everyone who visited my blog about my updates and experiences on Club Penguin Rewritten. I loved being a blogger for Club Penguin, and CPR gave me a chance to continue the magic.

I had started playing Club Penguin Rewritten in February 2017 right after their beta party was over, having missed the beta hat but I was really happy to be a part of the CPR community. I'm very grateful to the CPR team for giving me a chance to relive the happiness of my childhood.

While I had not expected CPR to be over this soon, I can say I am strong and not as upset as I was for the closure of classic CP. I won't ever forget the memories I made within this community.

It was a lot of fun playing with you guys but I had little time to blog so my blog was inactive temporarily. I am having a series of exams since last year. Right now I am going through my finals and managed to write a post for CPR.

WADDLE ON PARTY GUIDE

First off, we have a remake of Snow Forts friendship mosaic from classic CP. But the one on CPR is drawn again, and it looks so amazing. This is where the players will witness the end of Rewritten's journey.

Here you can claim an exclusive Club Penguin Rewritten pin.

Here's how it looks on your playercard:

As many as 17 rooms have been decorated for the Waddle On Party. The one I am really impressed with is the Coffee Shop. It has been the place for most important events on CPR including Club Penguin's 12th Anniversary Party and CPR's first anniversary party.

Most rooms have been filled with music from the parties we have had in CPR.

Head over to Migrator's ship hold for Rockhopper's Rare Items.

The Dance Club floor has Colors of CPR's beta hat, don't forget to play DJ3K on different tracks before CPR ends.

Click on DJ Cadence to receive her autograph! Cool!

Looking for cool dance moves? Go upstairs to Dance Lounge and take the elevator to the top floor. You can find a free Boom Box for yourself here.

Lastly the most important part of being a penguin, is to tip the Ice Berg. Get your Miners Helmet, turn blue and drill. Remember to take off all other clothes for the drill action to work.
You can find my video on How To Tip the Iceberg on my YouTube channel by clicking here.

Congrats! You can now claim a free party hat!

In the end, you get these messages as quoted by Lane Merrifield (former CP Community manager), Chris Gliddon and co-founder Dave Krysko. What a wonderful way to end this wonderful game!

What's Next?

CP Rewritten is partnered with Pengur, a modern CP-based CPPS. It releases soon and I am looking forward to play it. With more custom content, I am sure it will be a very good experience! Currently the exact release date is unknown, but you can follow my Twitter for latest updates on it!

You can also check Pengur's Twitter here for news about pre-registeration.

Thanks for reading and stay creative!

I will be blogging about CP Island starting May 2018.

Thank you very much to all of you and the CPR team again for the great memories. Waddle on, CPR!

A Note Regarding CPR and CPI

If you think I'm going to irritate you by talking about some community drama, then... then you are so right!

Yeah, no. I did NOT make this video. Just found it a little amusing, and got it here.

Club Penguin was closed for everyone, so that means everyone lost their penguins, pets and progress, right? Nobody has access to it anymore obviously.
So in other words, everyone just moved on - to either mobiles or CPPSes.
It's fairly clear that some people moved from original CP to fan-made recreation Club Penguin Rewritten. Yeah, unfortunately, it's "fan-made". Others moved to Disney Club Penguin Island (Don't hate me for mentioning Disney).
So clearly nobody "lives in the past"(seriously an immature thing to say).

I am playing both CPR and CPI ever since they released. Initially many beta tester fans of CPI hated CPR a lot. It was pretty funny to see how some of them,  including some bloggers, after hating on CPR players switched from CPI to CPR. Such people are confused about what to do in their life.

Dear readers, here are some pretty obvious reasons why people play Club Penguin Rewritten:
- They don't have mobile phones or tablets, maybe?
- Others, like me and many more, prefer Desktop gaming over mobiles. Might sound weird to the new generation but oh well. Most world-wide people playing CP from 2005-2011 are aware of the internet restrictions and not having a phone. For them, desktop was quite everything and it was much simple. I can say they atleast didn't have to type microscopic letters on a tiny keyboard.
- For the sake of childhood memories and to experience old good times.
- To express each other more freely. A feature that makes CP Rewritten better than classic CP. Your common language words don't get censored for no reason (Meet me at iceberg). Plus, active moderators work to keep it quite safe. Just a tiny feature, not saying CPR is better than CP! You think I'm ridiculous?
- It's totally free! I was a member on CP for about 2 years. Just saying. But Club Penguin Rewritten is music to the ears of a lot of players, who went mad when they didn't get the promised "Free Membership" on time on the very last day of Club Penguin's existence. Not to mention it's a dream for the players who always wanted to be members but couldn't afford membership.
- The CP community. Yes, the friendly CP community. To congratulate the CPR creators on getting 1 Million players in just 8 months is not the purpose of this piece of article.

Now you know why a million people play CPR. Time for some question for you based on reading the above passage(literally):

- People want it. People will get it. Can you stop CPPSes? What will you gain by that?
- There exist mature people who prefer to chat more freely. Do they deserve to leave our community?
- A player of CP creates fan art, which is a recreation of figures of original game. Some take commissions for their CP art. But some lovers of Disney sue CP players who recreate the old version of the game, gathering its left over pieces. Don't you think that's illegal?(I don't actually)
- A player could always have their opinion of liking an older version or a new phone-only version. Are they allowed to have their own choice?
- A Club Penguin's recreation is NOT exactly Club Penguin. It's a copy. Do you hate people who like a copy of their favourite game?

That's all for the questions. Yay.

Before moving on to Club Penguin Island, a successor to original CP let's have some facts on table.

- Classic CP was overflown with Disney promos/takeovers from 2015, while most CP staff was let go and Project Super Secret was introduced in 2015. It lasted a secret until late 2016. And it led to closure of CP in early 2017. Correct me if I'm wrong here.
- The classic game got slower from 2015. A better desktop technology could have been a great solution.
- The original game had a lot of potential, if they listened more to the Community. There could have been a Card Jitsu of Shadows, more customisation, new mascots, more original events, video games, etc. The list is endless.
- Atleast a story could have been set up for transition from CP to CPI to excite the community. It would have been a better start to CPI if more pre-registeration awards were given or the existing ones were a available to the majority of free players.
- CPI was a work of more than 2 years yet not as good as expected. But it's doing a better work since the small CPI team doesn't have to maintain Club Penguin desktop anymore.
- What a sad fact it is that CPI wasn't made for desktop. The team has recently been "thinking" of making it but I doubt it'll happen until after a year. Because they have only like 20 staff members for CPI.
- Club Penguin began on October 24, 2005 and gained much more popularity in 6 months than CPI right now. It clearly indicates it should have been for desktop.
- Not to forget about caste-system on Club Penguin Island game, which is indeed a serious issue. The extent of division between members and non-members is frustrating(It was not so in original CP). On the other hand, everyone is equal on CP Rewritten, no caste-system.

Why people play CP Island:
- Some say they don't have a PC.
- Many prefer playing on mobiles. They can stay connected on the go.
- It's different than classic Club Penguin. Quite different actually. Worse and better in certain ways.
- It has a friendly and young community.
- It is safe. (For most part!)

Not comparing it to anything, but CPI can be A LOT better. Their team needs to listen more to the community and their popular demands.

Now here's an off topic discussion and an open challenge.

Club Penguin's copy, CPR has recently launched the news of Club Penguin's Anniversary party on October 24, 2017 for a day! They probably will gather old files and use them for the party and item. CPR started out in February this year. Clearly there's a thing which makes them celebrate anniversary this month rather than February. It's love for classic CP.

Club Penguin Island has announced celebration of classic Halloween Party (CPR did that too). I had emailed the CP Island support a few days ago, since we're close to Club Penguin's Anniversary. Well, here's their reply:

Anyway, I don't think CPI will have the 12th Anniversary celebration(I'm just guessing that). They won't care enough to pass the old tradition of 11 years. Or would they? Maybe because they have money?
It has always been a small event. CPI may celebrate it on October 24, 2017 with a party hat and take a look at an Yearbook.

CPR has announced the anniversary celebration. CPI hasn't. March 29 was the end of an era. A lover of CP wouldn't want to forget the date October 24.
If CPI team loves their community, they will celebrate the anniversary on Oct. 24 (We haven't celebrated it this year). If they want to forget classic CP and don't care about the Club Penguin community, they wouldn't celebrate it on Oct. 24.
The future will tell us whether who REALLY cares about the Club Penguin community.
This is an open, naked challenge.

Disney has taken legal actions to take down CPR's domain as mentioned by CPR.

Apparently many CPI players get toxic of the fact that a large amount of players play CPR. Why would you want to force them to play CPI anyway? CPI is strictly targeted for 6-12 year old kids. They welcome a new generation.
I doubt CPR will close. It shouldn't close. It's clearly not a threat to CPI. What is a threat to CPI is Disney's actions. If CPR gets closed because of them, Disney Club Penguin Island will be hated a lot more. I wouldn't want that because I love CPI. Yeah, I'm a supporter of both CPR and CPI.

CPR has desktop fans and CPI has mobile fans. They've both moved on. To a game they like better. They have their personal choices and reasons. The best thing is to not hate each other for liking different things. We are the penguins - 2D and 3D, mobile and desktop, yet penguins.

—————

I randomly found an article in a blog recently on Twitter. The writer says that people "feel CPR is responsible for CPI’s low traffic and have even gone far to say that CPR could potentially mean the end to CPI."
(S)he also says "Club Penguin was never going to get more popular"
Well dear writer, its great how you assume things people think. I wish I had that ability? Because it's a funny one.
Mr Pingu was so involved in fighting that he ended up deleting this article before saving. He's writing it again and cursing everyone in sight. Send him a comment below or tweet here.

The Festival of Flight was a party in Club Penguin that occurred in August, 2009. It was caused by the need to replace the windows in the Cave's pool.
